News update 17th November

News update 17th November 2019

Sunday the 17th November is St Hugh’s Day, and we will celebrate with a Parish Eucharist in St Hugh’s school hall at 11 am. This is a lovely family service, where we are joined by the superb St Hugh’s school choir. There will be no services or Sunday schools at either St Thomas’ or St Agnes’ on this day.

Worship for all Generations” services continue at 6.30 pm every Thursday at St Thomas’. The services are non-Eucharistic, last just over half an hour, and during November will focus on the theme of the main services for the following Sunday. People of all ages are most welcome to worship with us in these family-friendly services.

The Posada figures are now ready to begin their Advent journey, so please add your details to the list if you would like to welcome Mary and Joseph into your homes.

St Thomas’ DCC will be at 7 pm on Monday 18h November in the Community Room, and St Agnes’ Open Forum will be on Wednesday 20th November at 8 pm. The DCC and Open Forum meetings are open to everyone, so please feel free to come along and join the conversations.

The Ladies of Leesfield meet at 7.30 pm on Thursday 21st November for a Fun Quiz Nightand the final Tea & Toast of the season will be from 10.30 am to 12 noon on Saturday 23rd November, both held in St Thomas’ Community Room. All are welcome at the Ladies’ events, so please do bring a friend to enjoy the fun and great companionship.

Our next Choir practice will be at 7 pm on Monday 28th November at St Thomas’. Everyone from both churches is really welcome to come and join us as we practice our Advent Hymns and Christmas Carols. You don’t have to sit in the choir stalls or wear the robes if you prefer not to – it’s also a big help if people sitting in the pews know how the tune goes!

On Saturday 30th November St John, Hey are hosting a morning with Bishop Mark. The theme for the morning is "Advent Companions for the Journey", and the aim is to encourage people in their discipleship from Monday to Saturday, not just on Sunday.
