Newsletter 1st September

News & Dates – 1st September 2019

Welcome back! Hope everybody’s had a great summer break. St Agnes’ services are now back to normal after the summer building work.

Well done to everybody who took part in this year’s Boundary Walk – here’s a picture of some of us. The weather was ideal for walking, and 12 people altogether were involved. If there is any more sponsor money to come in please could you let us have it by the 15th September so we can let everyone know how much we raised for church funds.

Parish meetings start with Standing Committee, 7 pm on Monday 2nd September at the Vicarage, with St Thomas’ DCC and St Agnes’ Open Forum during the week commencing 16th September.

The next Ladies of Leesfield Coffee Morning is on Saturday 7th September, 10.30 am at Liz Bentley’s home.

St Agnes’ Rose Queen Freya and her retinue (and their families) have plenty of fundraising events planned.

Before the holidays the children were each given a tube of Smarties. We hope you enjoyed them, and that you will fill the tubes with as many 20 pence pieces as you can for Rose Queen fundraising.

After the St Agnes’ service on Sunday 8th September we have Sausage Sunday. Please do stay after the service and enjoy a delicious sausage butty and a brew for just £2.

Then on Thursday 12th September at 7.30 pm there will be a Fashion Show in St Agnes’ school hall (see picture for more details). Tickets are now available from the Rose Queen and retinue mums.

Sunday the 15th September is Sunday School Prizegiving Day, and the all-age services will be at the usual times at both churches.

The deadline for the next issue of “Voice” magazine is Sunday 15th September, and we’re looking forward to reading your summer news. Material can be handed in at church or emailed to Paul (paulmdent@gmail.com)

Items for the newsletter, website and facebook pages to Liz (lizzy.dent@googlemail.com) whenever you want to send. Lots of lovely pictures please!

News update 22nd August

News update 22nd August

Unfortunately St Agnes' Church is still not ready to re-open following the work to school. All are welcome to join us for the 11 am service at St Thomas' Church on Sunday.

On Saturday the Ladies of Leesfield are hosting a Strawberry Cream Tea in St Thomas' Community Room at 2 pm, so please do come along if you can.

Tickets are now on sale for our Cheese and Wine evening on Friday 30th August. Everyone is most welcome to join us for an evening of good food and company, with a couple of fun quizzes as well.

We would be most grateful for any donations of cheese, wines and accompaniments.

News Update 15th August

News Update 15th August

Sorry, St Agnes' still has no water so there won't be a service there again this Sunday. Philip's going to check with the builders again on Tuesday and we'll let you know. In the meantime everybody is welcome to come to the 11 am service at St Thomas'.

Just a few reminders about events over the next couple of weeks:-

The Leesfield Parish Boundary Walk is this Saturday, starting from the park at the end of Station Road, Grotton at 10 am, details attached.

This is a great way to see all of the area included in our parish, and to make new friends along the way (and the weather forecast is looking a bit better now!).

If you're not able to join us it would be much appreciated if you could sponsor somebody who is walking, and if you fancy something a little more sedate the Ladies of Leesfield have Tea & Toast in St Thomas' Community Room from 10.30 am to 12 noon.

Other Ladies of Leesfield events include their Book Night at 7.30 pm on Thursday 22nd in the Community Room, where you can discuss books you have read, and on Saturday 24th they have their Strawberry Cream Tea at 2 pm (please see poster). All are warmly invited to come along and enjoy companionship and  refreshments.

And finally, at 7.30 pm on Friday 30th August, we have our Cheese and Wine Evening at St Thomas'. Come and experience flavours from all around the world without leaving Lees! There will be themed quizzes (just for fun) and a raffle. Tickets are priced at £10 and are on sale now.

Donations of wines, cheeses and accompaniments are most welcome to help keep the costs of this event to a minimum, and there will be a list in church for you to add to if you are able to donate anything.
