Newsletter 24th June

Leesfield Parish – 24th June 2018
Well done to Audrey and her helpers! At last Sunday’s Brunch event they raised an amazing £500 for Cancer Research. Many thanks to all who supported the event by donating food items and raffle prizes.

Also in aid of Cancer Research, some of our Sunday School children and their mums are taking part in the Race For Life this morning at Alexandra Park, so if you would like to sponsor them there is a sponsor sheet on the notice board in the Community Room.

St Thomas’ DCC meets in the Community Room at 7 pm tomorrow evening, and St Agnes’ Open Forum is in their school hall at 8 pm on Wednesday. Both of these meetings are open to all members of the congregation, so please do come along and participate in the running of our churches.

Harvest Queen Ella and her retinue will be “at home” next Saturday 30th June at 2.30 pm. There are boxes available at the back of St Thomas’ church to leave chocolate, bottles and gifts for tombola & raffle prizes. Ella and her retinue will be most grateful for any donations.
On the day there will also be a “Mini Bake Off”. All entries should be delivered to St Thomas’ School Hall by 11 am, and after the judging has taken place the cakes will be offered as refreshments during the “At Home”.

The parish day trip to Southport will be on Saturday 14th July. The coach will leave from the corner of Spring Lane/Burton Street at around 9 am, returning from Southport about 4.30 pm. There is a list at the back of St Thomas’ so that you can add your name if you wish to come along. Please see Audrey or Roy for more details.

Advance notice – The Parish Confirmation Service is at 11 am on Sunday 15th July. There will be no service at St Agnes’ on that morning so that everyone can come along to support those being confirmed.

Tickets (£10 each) are now on sale for this year’s Cheese & Wine Evening at 7.30 pm on Friday 6th July. Please come along and join us at St Thomas’ as we sample cheeses and wines from around the world. Everyone who came last year had a great time, so please get your tickets now to avoid disappointment as numbers are limited.

Donations of wine and other items are most welcome, there is a list of items required at each church so if you are able to donate anything please add your name to the list.

Please could all articles for the next issue of “Voice” magazine be handed in at church or emailed to Paul (paulmdent@gmailcom) by Sunday 8th July. There have been lots of brilliant events recently so please send your photos and stories to us so that people who weren’t able to attend can read all about it.

Items for the newsletter, website and facebook pages to Liz (lizzy.dent@googlemail.com) whenever you want to send. Lots of lovely pictures please!
