Leesfield Parish – 10th September 2017

Welcome back after the holidays, hope you all had a great time!

Edith will not be with us for 3 months now, as she is taking a well-earned Sabbatical. She will not be involved in any Parish affairs during this period, although she will be at home in the Vicarage for some of the time and Stephen will continue to be at home and attend church as usual.
During Edith’s absence the churches are the legal responsibility of the churchwardens, who have authority to make decisions. Much work has been done in preparation for Edith’s break to ensure that all runs smoothly and efficiently, and we will have guest preachers on several Sundays. If anyone has any queries please see Lesley or Philip.

ROC Conversations –Meetings for everyone who is interested in improving our local communities.
St Hugh’s School 6-8pm Tuesday 12th and St Edward’s Parish Hall 7-9pm Wednesday 27th September.
Please see posters and leaflets for more details.

“Lucy Cobb” Fashion Show – Thursday 14th September 7pm at Lees & Hey Conservative Club. This will be the last event in Harvest Queen Molly-Mae’s year so please do come along and support. Tickets £5 available from Emma or any of the retinue mums.
Sunday School Prizegiving will be on Sunday 17th September in both churches at the usual times. All-age services with no sermon to allow plenty of time to celebrate the children’s achievements over the year.

Ladies of Leesfield :– Tea and Toast – Saturday 23rd September, 10.30am. Please join us for refreshments and a chat. £3 including raffle.

Harvest Queen Crowning – Saturday 23rd September 2pm.

All are warmly invited to attend the celebrations as Ella is crowned Harvest Queen at St Thomas’.

Refreshments and fun in the school hall afterwards.

Donations of bottles, tombola & raffle prizes, teddies and chocolate are most welcome – there is a box at the back of church to put them in!

St Thomas’ church is open regularly on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, so people can drop in, look around, pray or just sit. For this to happen, we need volunteers to sit in church. Can you spare an hour now and again? See Lesley or sign the list please.

Items for the newsletter to Liz (lizzy.dent@googlemail.com) whenever you want to send! Please also submit articles for the October/November magazine to Paul at paulmdent@gmail.com as soon as they are ready, but by Sunday 17th September at the latest.
