Leesfield Parish - August 2017

There is still a lot happening in the Parish during the holidays. Sunday and Tuesday services will continue as usual. There will be no Sunday School at St Thomas’, but children are most welcome to join us at our services. St Agnes’ Sunday School carries on, with a more informal “Holiday Club” style.

The Bible Study group will meet on Mondays 31st July, 14th August and 4th September at 1.30 pm. Frank and lively discussions about Scripture and our walk with God. Each Study stands alone...so it doesn't matter if you have missed a few weeks. Do be encouraged to come along!

Ladies of Leesfield :–

Tea & Toast - Saturday 19th August at 10.30am. Cost £3 including raffle.
Bygone Days (Part 1) – Thursday 24th August at 7.30pm. All are welcome to join us as we share our photos and memories (particularly those featuring Leesfield Church and School) up to the 1960s.
Strawberry Cream Tea – Saturday 26th August at 2.30pm. Tickets cost £5 and are on sale now.

Oldham Play Action Group are running activity sessions for Primary School age children in St Thomas’ Community Room every Thursday 1-3pm in the holidays. There will be arts & crafts, and indoor and outdoor play. The sessions are free of charge and open to all, but children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Volunteers are needed to help with the activities.

This year's Leesfield Parish Sponsored Boundary Walk is on Saturday 12th August, starting at 10am from the car park at the end of Station Road, Grotton. It’s a great chance to explore our vast and diverse parish, have fun and make new friends, so if you’ve not been before please come and join us.

The whole walk is around 9 miles in length, over some tricky terrain, but it can be split into easy sections and there are alternative routes which avoid mud and cattle.

Sponsor forms and details are available from both churches, or follow the link mydonate.bt.com/events/boundarywalk2017  to register as a fundraiser and get on-line sponsorship, or to sponsor the event or an individual walker.

St Thomas' Church is open regularly on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, so people can drop in, look around, pray or just sit. For this to happen, we need volunteers to sit in church (Could be in the back room!) Can you spare an hour now and again? See Edith or sign the list please.

Items for the newsletter to Liz (lizzy.dent@googlemail.com) by Wednesday eve please.
