The Great Leesfield Sponsored Parish Boundary Walk - Saturday 13th September 2014 10.00 am

On Saturday 13th September we are planning to walk the Parish Boundary. The aim is to have as many people as possible representing all aspects of Parish life walking at least some part of the boundary on the same day. This will be a sponsored event, and each person walking is asked to raise sponsorship from friends, relatives and work colleagues. The proceeds are to be split between the Development fund for St. Thomas’ and much-needed general Parish finances.

This is not just about fundraising, but also for us to be seen out as a united body walking the boundary of the vast community which we serve.

In order to make the walk accessible to as many people as possible the route has been split into 8 stages of
varying distances and difficulty. We anticipate that most people, from toddlers to the young at heart, will be able to complete at least one stage of the walk. Stages range from easy 10 minute walks to challenging 60 minute walks.

The whole walk is approximately 10 miles, and should take around 4 hours to complete. There will be checkpoints at the end of each stage where walkers may join or leave the walk, many of which are close to main roads and public transport links.

Sponsor forms are available from both Churches and all 3 schools. If you are not able to take part in the walk please sponsor someone who is walking.

We need:-
·        Checkpoint Marshals – 8 pairs, with mobile phone & transport.
·        Walking Marshals – 4, including some trained first-aiders if possible.
·        Walkers – 200, all ages and abilities welcome. Children to be accompanied by a responsible adult.
·        Sponsors - millions!

For further information including route map, detailed stage-by-stage walking guide and how to register for the walk please e-mail lizzy.dent@googlemail.com, or telephone 0161 627 4515.

Please join us in this exciting event!
