Based in Stockport, the BARROWMEAD ENSEMBLE was formed in
1976. Each year it gives public
performances, mainly in the Manchester area, although recitals have been
performed as far afield as Norfolk, Kent, Perthshire and Tayside.
The Ensemble’s repertoire
includes music from the Medieval and Renaissance Periods to less commonly heard
Twentieth Century works. These include
several written for the ensemble. The
ensemble has played many concerts for the National
Trust for England & Wales, in period costume.
The BARROWMEAD ENSEMBLE plays a considerable number of instruments
ranging from the sopranino to the six-foot contra-bass recorder.
