News Update 15th August

News Update 15th August

Sorry, St Agnes' still has no water so there won't be a service there again this Sunday. Philip's going to check with the builders again on Tuesday and we'll let you know. In the meantime everybody is welcome to come to the 11 am service at St Thomas'.

Just a few reminders about events over the next couple of weeks:-

The Leesfield Parish Boundary Walk is this Saturday, starting from the park at the end of Station Road, Grotton at 10 am, details attached.

This is a great way to see all of the area included in our parish, and to make new friends along the way (and the weather forecast is looking a bit better now!).

If you're not able to join us it would be much appreciated if you could sponsor somebody who is walking, and if you fancy something a little more sedate the Ladies of Leesfield have Tea & Toast in St Thomas' Community Room from 10.30 am to 12 noon.

Other Ladies of Leesfield events include their Book Night at 7.30 pm on Thursday 22nd in the Community Room, where you can discuss books you have read, and on Saturday 24th they have their Strawberry Cream Tea at 2 pm (please see poster). All are warmly invited to come along and enjoy companionship and  refreshments.

And finally, at 7.30 pm on Friday 30th August, we have our Cheese and Wine Evening at St Thomas'. Come and experience flavours from all around the world without leaving Lees! There will be themed quizzes (just for fun) and a raffle. Tickets are priced at £10 and are on sale now.

Donations of wines, cheeses and accompaniments are most welcome to help keep the costs of this event to a minimum, and there will be a list in church for you to add to if you are able to donate anything.

Newsletter 19th July

Newsletter – 19th July 2019

This will be the final newsletter of the school year, and has all the events for during the summer break. Have a great holiday!

The Ladies of Leesfield have lots planned during the holidays. The Coffee Morning on Saturday the 3rd August will be at Val Sedgewick’s home from 10.30 am to 12 noon. On Thursday 22nd August the Ladies are holding a Book Night at 7.30 pm in the community room. Please come along and discuss any good books you have read. And finally, at 2 pm on Saturday 24th August there will be a Strawberry Cream Tea, with scones, jam, cream, strawberries and Prosecco. Tickets are £6 per person – bring a friend along to join the fun.

This year’s Boundary Walk will be on Saturday 17th August, starting at 10 am from the car park at the end of Station Road, Grotton. For those who haven’t been before this is a wonderful chance to see just how huge and diverse our parish is. The whole walk is around 9 miles over varied terrain, but is split into sections (with the easiest parts at the beginning) so you don’t have to do all of it if you don’t feel able to.

We have companionable picnic stops, including at Park Bridge where the Stables Tea Rooms will be open for much-needed shelter, refreshments and toilet facilities. Sponsor forms with more details about the walk are now available at both churches. We would love for you to join us on the walk, but if you can’t it would be great if you could please sponsor someone who is walking.

The ever-popular Cheese & Wine Evening will be at 7.30 pm on Friday 30th August in St Thomas’ Community Room. Tickets are priced at £10 each for a lovely evening sampling cheeses and wines from around the world, and are on sale from this Sunday. Everyone is most welcome to come and join us, and if you are able to donate any wines, cheeses or accompaniments there will be a list at the back of church.

Events are also planned for after the holidays, you can find out more about them by following the link Events and Fundraising

Items for the newsletter, website and facebook pages to Liz (lizzy.dent@googlemail.com) whenever you want to send. Lots of lovely pictures please!
