News & Dates – 1st December 2019
Today is the first Sunday in the very special season of Advent, and we will be lighting the first of our Advent candles at the start of our services.
It is also the day on which our Posada figures of Mary and Joseph begin their Advent journey around our homes and schools, before returning to church for our Christmas services. There are still some dates available for you to welcome Mary and Joseph into your homes, so please add your details to the list if you wish to.
The PCC meets tomorrow evening, 7 pm in St Thomas’ Community Room.
On Saturday the 7th December from 10.30 am we will be dressing the sponsored Christmas Trees at St Thomas’ as part of the fundraising by Harvest Queen Annie and her retinue.
The Christmas Tree Festival will open to the public at 12.30 pm, and the Ladies of Leesfield will be serving seasonal refreshments. There will also be various craft workshops for children at a cost of £1 each.
“Worship for all Generations” services will continue at 6.30 pm every Thursday at St Thomas’ throughout Advent. The services are non-Eucharistic, last just over half an hour, and people of all ages are most welcome to worship with us in these family-friendly services.
Advance notice – The annual St Agnes’ Rose Queen White Hart Dinner Dance will be on Friday 20th March. This is a great opportunity to socialise and make new friends. Tickets are £35 each, and a deposit of £10 needs to be paid by the end of December to secure the booking.
