News update 10th November

News update 10th November

Today is Remembrance Sunday. There will be no service at St Agnes’, but at 9.15 am we have a Parish Eucharist at St Thomas’. We then assemble at Lees Library at 10 am to walk down to Lees Cemetery with the Royal British Legion, other churches and uniformed organisations for the annual Act of Remembrance.

Sunday the 17th November is St Hugh’s Day, and we will celebrate with a Parish Eucharist in St Hugh’s school hall at 11 am. This is a lovely family service, where we are joined by the superb St Hugh’s school choir. There will be no services or Sunday schools at either St Thomas’ or St Agnes’ on this day.

“Worship for all Generations” services continue at 6.30 pm every Thursday at St Thomas’. The services are non-Eucharistic, last just over half an hour, and during November will focus on the theme of the main services for the following Sunday. People of all ages are most welcome to worship with us in these family-friendly services.

The Posada figures are now ready to begin their Advent journey, so please add your details to the list if you would like to welcome Mary and Joseph into your homes.

Parish meetings start on Monday 11th November with Standing committee in the vicarage at 7 pm. St Thomas’ DCC will be at 7 pm on Monday 18h November in the Community Room, and St Agnes’ Open Forum will be on Wednesday 20th November at 8 pm. The DCC and Open Forum meetings are open to everyone, so please feel free to come along and join the conversations.

On Saturday 16th November Roy and Audrey are organising a Parish Day Trip to York. There is a list at the back of church for you to add your name if you would like to come.
