Leesfield Parish – 4th March 2018
St Thomas’ DCC meets tomorrow evening at 7 pm, and St Agnes’ open forum is on Wednesday at 8 pm. The full PCC meeting is next Monday, 12th March, 7 pm at St Thomas’.

Churches Together in Lees and District Lent Meetings continue on Tuesdays, 12 noon at Zion Methodist Church, with a simple lunch of soup and bread served afterwards. This year we will focus on the film ‘The Theory of Everything’ using the Lent course book ‘The Mystery of Everything’.

The 2018 Lees Schools’ Choral Speaking Morning will be at St Thomas’ Church, 10 am on Wednesday 7th March. Pupils from St Agnes’ and St Thomas’ schools will be taking part in this event, so please feel free to come along and support the children from our local primary schools.

Next Sunday is Mothering Sunday, with services at the usual times at both churches. The previous day, Saturday 10th March, St Agnes’ Rose Queen and her retinue are hosting an Afternoon Tea in celebration of this special day.

Final payment is now due for the Rose Queen and Harvest Queen Dinner Dance at the White Hart on Friday 16th March. Payment in cash please to Colette or Karen.

The Bible Study group will meet on Monday 12th March at 1.30 pm. Frank and lively discussions about Scripture and our walk with God. Each Study stands alone...so it doesn't matter if you have missed a few weeks. Please do be encouraged to come along.

The Ladies of Leesfield Easter Stall will be open until 18th March. Donations of good-quality items are welcome .On Thursday 15th March the ladies are holding an evening of funny stories and poems, 7.30 pm at St Thomas’. The first Tea and Toast of the season is on Saturday 17th March, 10.30 am to 12 noon, and Lees Co-op have very kindly offered to sponsor this event.

The Parish Confirmation Service is on July 15th at St Thomas. If you haven’t been confirmed please think seriously about it. Minimum age is Year 6 and there is no upper age limit! I am particularly keen to encourage adults who are regular attenders at church and who have not been confirmed to consider taking this step this year. Preparation sessions will take place after Easter, but if you let me know as soon as possible if you are interested I will try to arrange the times of the sessions to suit everyone. Expressions of interest are not a commitment!  Edith

This Saturday, 10th March, scouts from St Agnes' and Leesfield will be packing bags from 10.30 am to 3 pm at Lees Co-op. Five young people from our scout groups have been selected to join 45,000 other scouts from around the world at the 2019 World Scout Jamboree Camp in West Virginia USA. Please come along and support our scouts as they have a massive task in raising £4,000 each to attend the event. Lees Co-op are supporting them in their fundraising and are donating a Mothers' Day prize.

St Thomas’ church is open regularly on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, so people can drop in, look around, pray or just sit. For this to happen, we need volunteers to sit in church. Can you spare an hour now and again? See Edith or sign the list please.

Articles for the next edition of the Parish Magazine should be sent by next Sunday to Paul (paulmdent@gmail.com). All are welcome to send in stories, poems or articles about forthcoming events, and pictures to accompany the items really help to make the magazine more appealing.

Items for the newsletter, website and facebook pages to Liz (lizzy.dent@googlemail.com) whenever you want to send. Lots of lovely pictures please!
