Leesfield Parish – 11th March 2018

The Bible Study group will meet on Monday 12th March at 1.30 pm. Frank and lively discussions about Scripture and our walk with God. Each Study stands alone...so it doesn't matter if you have missed a few weeks. Please do be encouraged to come along.

Also on Monday, the PCC meets at 7 pm at St Thomas’.
Churches Together in Lees and District Lent Meetings continue on Tuesdays, 12 noon at Zion Methodist Church, with a simple lunch of soup and bread served afterwards. This year we will focus on the film ‘The Theory of Everything’ using the Lent course book ‘The Mystery of Everything’.

The Parish Confirmation Service is on July 15th at St Thomas. If you haven’t been confirmed please think seriously about it. Minimum age is Year 6 and there is no upper age limit! I am particularly keen to encourage adults who are regular attenders at church and who have not been confirmed to consider taking this step this year. Preparation sessions will take place after Easter, but if you let me know as soon as possible if you are interested I will try to arrange the times of the sessions to suit everyone. Expressions of interest are not a commitment!  Edith

The Ladies of Leesfield Easter Stall will be open until 18th March. Donations of good-quality items are welcome. On Thursday 15th March the ladies are holding an evening of funny stories and poems, 7.30 pm at St Thomas’.

Tea and Toast is back! The first one of the season is on Saturday 17th March, 10.30 am to 12 noon, and Lees Co-op have very kindly offered to sponsor this event. It’s a great social morning, so please bring all your friends and neighbours along to share in our company.

Youth church - After Easter a new group will start for those children over Sunday School age (years 7 to 9). This will take place at the same time as Sunday School at St Thomas’, in the Community room and will be led by Rebecca Ashton. It will generally take place fortnightly. The material that will be covered will be based on the Gospel for the day – but will be covered in a way that is more accessible for this age group, with plenty of scope for discussion. The first session will be on April 8th. Anyone in this age group is welcome. More information from Edith or from Rebecca.

St Thomas’ church is open regularly on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, so people can drop in, look around, pray or just sit. For this to happen, we need volunteers to sit in church. Can you spare an hour now and again? See Edith or sign the list please.

Harvest Queen Easter events -

Harvest Queen Ella and her retinue invite everyone to have a go at naming this very special Easter Duck. Entries are 50p per guess, and the winner gets to keep the duck!

Also for Easter there will be a Children's Easter Bake-off. All children from both churches are welcome to bake an Easter-themed cake. Entries will be judged by appearance only, after the service at St Thomas' on Palm Sunday, 25th March. The cakes will be on sale after judging at £1 per slice to raise money for church.

Articles for the next edition of the Parish Magazine today please to Paul (paulmdent@gmail.com). All are welcome to send in stories, poems or articles about forthcoming events, and pictures to accompany the items really help to make the magazine more appealing.

Items for the newsletter, website and facebook pages to Liz (lizzy.dent@googlemail.com) whenever you want to send. Lots of lovely pictures please!
