Newsletter – January 2020
Sausage Sunday at St Agnes’ will be on the 12th January, so do please join us for a delicious brunch and help to raise funds for our churches.
For a trial period of 6 months there will be an All-age Eucharist at St Agnes’ on the 1st Sunday of each month, with no Sunday School. These services are great for children and young families to be in church together with the whole congregation.
“Worship for all Generations” services continue at 6.30 pm every Thursday at St Thomas’. The services are non-Eucharistic, last just over half an hour, and are family-friendly. Worship for the next few weeks will focus on some of the fascinating stories in the Old Testament.
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity runs from the 18th – 25th January this year, and there are special prayers for each day prepared by Christians from Malta and Gozo. Members of Churches Together in Lees and District will join with us at St Thomas’ at 3 pm on Sunday the 26th January for a special service to celebrate Christian Unity.
Parish meetings start on Monday 13th January with Standing Committee at 7 pm, and then St Thomas’ DCC at 7 pm on the 20th January and St Agnes’ Open Forum at 8 pm on the 22nd January. Both DCC and Open Forum meetings are open to all, so please do come along and join the conversation about how our churches are run. Notes from these meetings are then discussed at the full PCC meeting, which will take place at St Thomas’ at 7 pm on Monday 27th January.
The Ladies of Leesfield are taking a well-earned break during January, but will be back on Saturday 1st February with a Coffee Morning in Church hosted by Marian Smith.
The annual St Agnes’ Rose Queen White Hart Dinner Dance will be on Friday 20th March. This is a great opportunity to socialise and make new friends. If you haven’t booked your tickets yet please see Cassie or any of the retinue mums at St Agnes’.
