Newsletter 2nd February

Newsletter – 2nd February 2020

Sunday the 2nd February is All-age Eucharist at St Agnes’. There will be no Sunday School, and the whole church family is invited to worship together in church. It’s also Sausage Sunday, so please do stay after the service to enjoy a delicious brunch and help to raise funds for our churches.

“Worship for all Generations” services continue at 6.30 pm every Thursday at St Thomas’, in the warmth of the Community Room during the cold weather.  These family-friendly services are welcoming to all. This month we continue with our final Old Testament story about Noah, then a special service about love for St Valentine’s day before moving towards Lent.

As usual this year we will be admitting children (Year 4 upwards) to Holy Communion for the first time on Easter Sunday. Please see Edith or any of the Sunday School leaders for more information.

This year’s Parish Confirmation Service will take place on Sunday 5th July. This is still some time away, but because Edith’s retiring at the end of July we don’t yet know how it will be organised next year, so this year may be a good time to think about Confirmation.

The annual St Agnes’ Rose Queen White Hart Dinner Dance will be on Friday 20th March. Full payment for tickets needs to be made before the end of this month.

Annual subscriptions for “Voice” magazine are now due. The price for six bi-monthly copies is £5, and if you would like to subscribe please add your name to the list.

News update 19th January

News Update 19th January 2020

On Monday at 7 pm, we have St Thomas' DCC meeting, and St Agnes' Open Forum is at 8 pm on Wednesday. Both of these meetings are open to all members of our congregations, and we'd love to hear your ideas about how you can help us to do God's work in our parish. Even if you're not able to attend the meetings because of other commitments, please feel free to send in your suggestions for discussion.

This week - 18th to 25th January, is the Week of Christian Unity, and Churches Together in Lees and District will celebrate this with a special service, 3 pm at St Thomas' Leesfield Church. In case you're wondering about the picture of a shipwreck and the phrase "Unusual Kindness", the materials for this year's Week of Christian Unity have been prepared by Christians from Malta and Gozo (see Acts 28).
