Leesfield Parish – 27th August 2017

Edith will not be with us for 3 months after today’s services, as she is taking a well-earned Sabbatical. She will not be involved in any Parish affairs during this period, although she will be at home in the Vicarage for some of the time and Stephen will continue to be at home and attend church as usual.
During Edith’s absence the churches are the legal responsibility of the churchwardens, who have authority to make decisions. Much work has been done in preparation for Edith’s break to ensure that all runs smoothly and efficiently, and we will have guest preachers on several Sundays. If anyone has any queries please see Lesley or Philip.

Ladies of Leesfield Coffee Morning - Saturday 2nd September, 10.30am, 2 Hopkin View

The Bible Study group will meet on Monday 4th September at 1.30 pm. Frank and lively discussions about Scripture and our walk with God. Each Study stands alone...so it doesn't matter if you have missed a few weeks. Do be encouraged to come along!

Salem Moravians are welcoming a new minister, Revd Martin Smith, at a service on Thursday 7th September at 7pm. Clergy and congregation members from all the local Christian churches are warmly invited to attend, and there will be refreshments afterwards.

Heritage Open Weekend – St Thomas’ Church will be open from 10.30am to 4pm on Saturday 9th September. We hope to encourage visitors from far and wide to explore the rich heritage of our lovely building. If you are able to help with refreshments or showing visitors around please see Liz.

Sunday School Prizegiving will be on Sunday 17th September at both churches at the usual times. The services will be all-age, and there will be no sermon to allow plenty of time to celebrate the children’s achievements over the past year.

Harvest Queen Crowning – Saturday 23rd September 2pm. All are warmly invited to attend the celebrations as Ella is crowned Harvest Queen at St Thomas’. Refreshments and fun in the school hall after the crowning in church. Donations of items for stalls are most welcome – please see Kylie or Karen.

St Thomas’ church is open regularly on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, so people can drop in, look around, pray or just sit. For this to happen, we need volunteers to sit in church (Could be in the back room!) Can you spare an hour now and again? See Lesley or sign the list please.

Items for the newsletter to Liz (lizzy.dent@googlemail.com) whenever you want to send! Newsletters will be published every 2 or 3 weeks, depending on how many events are happening. Please also send items for the October/November magazine to Paul at paulmdent@gmail.com as soon as they are ready, but by Sunday 17th September at the latest.
