Leesfield Parish December 25th 2016

Thank you to everyone who made the Carol service so enjoyable – the choir, the readers, Paul and Warren. Thank you too to those who organized and served the refreshments afterwards. It was a thoroughly enjoyable occasion.
Thank you to those who organized the raffle – which raised around £250
Our carol singing on Monday was also very successful. We all enjoyed it. The children did an excellent job of collecting for the Booth Centre and of singing very tunefully and with great confidence. The adults sang well too of course, accompanied by Paul on his trumpet. The children collected over £95, which will be increased when we add the collection from the nativity.

Saturday 24th December Crib service/nativity 5pm St Thomas
And First Communion of Christmas 11.30pm
Sunday 25th December  Communion service at St Agnes  9.15am
Tuesday December 27th No 10am service at St Thomas
Sunday 1st January      Parish service at St Thomas 11am   No service at St Agnes

We have decided to make changes to the magazine. It has had the same format for many years and we feel it is rather outdated. The plan is that, from February, the magazine will be produced once every 2 months, and will be professionally printed in colour, with photographs. We hope this will make the magazine more attractive. It would be good if this can also be seen as an opportunity for more people to contribute to the magazine.
For example, short accounts (and photos) of Advent/Christmas at Leesfield would make interesting reading and perhaps encourage others to join in the various events next year.

We will be collecting items of warm clothing such as hats, scarves, gloves and socks to take down to the Booth Centre for the homeless in Manchester over the Christmas period. If you have any of these to spare or get some as Christmas presents you can't use these would be most welcome.
Also Cold Nights - Local charity which goes into Manchester to take food to people sleeping on the streets. They would like donations of pot noodles, porridge pots, crisps and chocolate. Their local drop off point is Limekiln Cafe by the Brownhill Visitor Centre in Uppermill so we could take donations up there. Chocolate bars are a particular treat, so if anyone has any such thing as an unwanted chocolate bar that would be greatly appreciated.

If any of our children or young people play a musical instrument, would they like to join a small group to play occasionally in church services? Please let Paul or Edith know if you might be interested.
