Leesfield Parish – 29th July 2018

As we’re now in the school summer holiday period there aren’t many family events happening, but there will be plenty going on for those of us who have already had our holidays or are going later to avoid the summer rush (and prices!) This newsletter will take us right through to early September, and there won’t be another one until just before the schools go back. 

Church services will continue to be at the usual times at both churches, but there will be no Sunday School at St Thomas’ during the holidays. Children are most welcome to join us in church.

The Bible Study group will meet on Mondays 30th July, 13th & 27th August and 3rd September at 1.30 pm in St Thomas’ Community Room. Frank and lively discussions about Scripture and our walk with God. Each Study stands alone...so it doesn't matter if you have missed a few weeks. Please do be encouraged to come along.

Ladies of Leesfield events – 

The ladies are having a Bingo Night in St Thomas’ Community Room at 7.30 pm on Thursday 16th August, and the monthly Tea and Toast is from 10.30 am to 12 noon on Saturday 18th August. Everyone is most welcome at these events, so bring a friend and come to join the fun. 

And on Saturday 25th August from 2.30 until 4 pm the ladies are hosting a Strawberry Cream Tea in St Thomas’ Community Room. 

There will be strawberries, scones, cake, prosecco, tea or coffee and a raffle. Tickets cost £5 per adult, £2 per child, and are available now.

The rearranged Cheese & Wine evening is at 7.30 pm on Friday 17th August. Tickets are now on sale at both churches at a price of £10 each. 

Please come along and join us at St Thomas’ as we sample cheeses and wines from around the world. 

Everyone who came last year had a great time, so please get your tickets now to avoid disappointment as numbers are limited. 

Donations of wine and other items are most welcome, there is a list of items required at each church so if you are able to donate anything please add your name to the list.

Newsletter 8th July

Leesfield Parish – 8th July 2018

There will be no newsletter for the next couple of weeks, so this one includes events and services going into early August so you can put them in your diaries.

Straight after church on Sunday Harvest Queen Ella & her retinue invite you to come along to their Garden Party on the vicarage lawn. 

It is their final event and more a thank you and get together than a fundraiser. There will be a small buffet, tea & coffee and juice for kids as well as wine to buy - bring pennies as there will be a few games going on.

The Parish Confirmation Service is at 11 am next Sunday 15th July at St Thomas’. There will be no service at St Agnes’ on that morning so that everyone can come along to support those being confirmed. 

The rehearsal for the Confirmation is on Wednesday, 11th July at 7 pm. 

Ladies of Leesfield events:- The coach leaves the corner of Spring Lane/Burton Street at 9 am on Saturday 14th July for the Parish Trip to Southport. 

Tea and Toast is on Saturday 21st July at St Thomas’ from 10.30 am to 12 noon. Please bring a friend to enjoy the company.   

On Thursday 26th July the ladies are having a Social Evening with wine & treats at Jenny's house, and the monthly coffee morning will be at 10.30 am on Saturday 4th August at Val’s house.

There have been lots of brilliant events recently so please send your photos and stories to us so that people who weren’t able to attend can read all about it.

Newsletter 1st July

Leesfield Parish – 1^st July 2018

Also tomorrow, the PCC will meet in St Thomas’ Community Room at 7 pm.

Sorry, this Friday’s Cheese & Wine evening is cancelled. There are lots of people away on holiday, getting away before the schools break up and the prices rise! We’ll try to rearrange for later in the year, but in the meantime any donations and ticket money will be refunded.

Next Saturday, 7th July, the Ladies of Leesfield are having their monthly Coffee Morning at Beryl's house from 10.30 am to 12 noon.

After next Sunday’s service at St Thomas’ Harvest Queen Ella is holding a Garden Party on the church lawn to celebrate the end of her reign. The weather forecast looks good, so please come along and enjoy the fun.

The parish day trip to Southport will be on Saturday 14th July. The coach will leave from the corner of Spring Lane/Burton Street at around 9 am, returning from Southport about 4.30 pm. Payment for the trip is now due, please see Audrey or Roy.

There are leaflets at the back of church about ALM. If you’ve ever thought about how you could use your talents to serve God in this parish then please pick one up and have a look at it. There are many different roles you could play, not only leading worship, so if you’re unsure as to how you can help please feel free to have a chat with Edith. The closing date for enrolment is not until the end of October so there is plenty of time to reflect on this.
