Leesfield Parish – 25th February 2018
The
Bible Study group will meet on Monday 26th February at 1.30 pm. Frank and lively
discussions about Scripture and our walk with God. Each Study stands alone...so
it doesn't matter if you have missed a few weeks. Please do be encouraged to
come along.
The Ladies of Leesfield Easter Stall opens today until 18th March. Donations of good-quality items are welcome. The monthly Coffee morning is on Saturday 3rd March, 10.30 until 12 at 40 Thomas Street, Lees.
Churches
Together in Lees and District Lent Meetings continue on Tuesdays, 12 noon at Zion
Methodist Church, with a simple lunch of soup and bread served afterwards. This
year we will focus on the film ‘The
Theory of Everything’ using the Lent course book ‘The Mystery of Everything’.
This year St Thomas’ Church is
hosting the Churches Together in Lees and District service for the Women’s World Day of Prayer at 1 pm on
Friday 2nd March. All are
warmly invited to join us, and light refreshments will be available after the
service.
The
Parish Confirmation Service is on
July 15th at St Thomas. If you haven’t been confirmed please
think seriously about it. Minimum age is Year 6 and there is no upper age
limit! I am particularly keen to encourage adults who are regular
attenders at church and who have not been confirmed to consider taking this
step this year. Preparation sessions will take place after Easter, but if you
let me know as soon as possible if you are interested I will try to arrange the
times of the sessions to suit everyone. Expressions of interest are not a
commitment! Edith
Final payment is now due for the Rose Queen and Harvest Queen Dinner Dance at the White Hart on
Friday 16th March. Payment in cash
please to Colette or Karen.
The
2018 Lees Schools’ Choral Speaking Event
will be at St Thomas’ Church, 10 am on Wednesday
7th March. Please feel free to come along and support the children
from our local primary schools.
Many thanks to staff and customers
at Lees and Grotton Co-ops. A Valentine’s
Day Raffle was held at both stores,
raising a total of £130 for St Thomas’ Church.
St Thomas’ church is open regularly on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, so
people can drop in, look around, pray or just sit. For this to happen, we need
volunteers to sit in church. Can you spare an hour now and again? See Edith or
sign the list please.
Items for the newsletter, website and facebook pages
to Liz (lizzy.dent@googlemail.com) whenever you want to
send. Lots of lovely pictures please!
